CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF NOVEMBER 1, 2002
Present: Herman E. Hasenjager, Robert E. Pease, Julian E. Szarlan, Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin Bingle.
Mr. Hasenjager called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the clerk and accepted with a motion by Mr. Pease and seconded by Mr. Szarlan.
OLD BUSINESS:
Signage – Mr. Hasenjager stated he would like to see a nice monument large enough to say “HILLCREST CEMETERY” on it, placed in front of Hillcrest Cemetery out by the road as this would last forever and look nice as well. Mr. Pease suggested everyone look at other cemeteries as they are driving about to see what they have done for signage as nothing will be done regarding this project until next year at the earliest.
Trimming of Trees – Paul hasn’t gotten in touch with Dennis Gunther yet. He has spoken to Mr. Gunther’s partner and did ask him to have Mr. Gunther call Paul regarding having the trimming of some tree branches in Hillside Cemetery. Blue Ox also cuts and chips trees and branches, but Mr. Gunther has been good in the past and usually comes in cheaper. The Commissioners agreed for Paul to go with the company of his choice.
NEW BUSINESS:
Raises – Paul stated the Department Heads received a raise and he will be getting his percentage of it as well, giving him a raise of 12.06 per week. The Union has given the clerks and secretaries a raise as well. The Commissioners always put into the annual budget to approve and provide any Union increases for Paul and Gaylin. The Commissioners agreed to give Gaylin the $ .22 raise the Union employees received giving her a raise of $2.20 per week and keeping her even with the Union.
Meeting of December 6th – The Commissioners agreed to cancel this meeting due to deer hunting season, as two out of the three Commissioners will be out hunting at this time.
C.D. Coming up for Renewal – Paul said he received a telephone call from Mike Pasterczyk. Mr. Pasterczyk stated the Cemeteries C.D. in Monson Savings Bank is coming up for renewal. He will renew it for 1 year at 2% and hopefully, within this time frame, the economy will change and he will be able to lock it in for a longer period at a higher rate.
Mr. Hasenjager made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:48 a.m. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gaylin Bingle
Clerk
